As a legacy sponsor and supporter of “Pints for People”, we’d like to focus this month’s blog on the purpose of this event: raising money and awareness for Water For People. Founded in the 1980s, Water For People was organized to provide access to safe water and sanitation services to everyone in the world. The statistics are staggering when you realize how many people are without this essential resource.
According to their research:
- 2 billion people lack access to clean water. That’s nearly 1 in 3 people in the world
- More than 1 in 2 people don’t have access to a decent toilet
- That adds up to 4.2 billion people worldwide. Without bathrooms, families lack dignity and risk getting sick from waterborne diseases
- Each year, 3.5 million deaths occur from waterborne diseases.
