The State of our Nation’s Infrastructures

By May 8, 2018 No Comments

Ever wonder how well our nation’s infrastructures rank year after year? Infrastructure Week, is a non-profit education and advocacy organization that dedicates a national week to bring together businesses, workers, leaders and citizens to focus attentions on the state of our country’s infrastructures – roads, bridges, rail, ports, airports, water and sewer systems, the energy grid, telecoms and more. This year’s Infrastructure Week will take place May 14-21 and shares one message:

Americans are waiting. The future won’t. It’s #TimeToBuild

In addition to Infrastructure Week, the American Society of Civil Engineers also issues a report card every 4 years on the state of each of our infrastructure categories. The report examines current infrastructure conditions and needs, assigns grades, and makes recommendations for how to improve in each category.

In 2017, the infrastructure report card for wastewater received a D+ grade. The increasing requirements and amount of funding needed to meet these current and future demands is what gives the wastewater category such a low ranking. Check out more details on the report findings, available here:  https://www.infrastructurereportcard.org/cat-item/wastewater/

AUC is proud to be an affiliate of Infrastructure Week to help educate and raise awareness on the future needs of our country’s wastewater demands.
